Our Program

Rise and Shine Kindergarten Curriculum

Reading is one of the the most fundamental components of Kindergarten, as children are learning all the basic skills of turning print into meaning. If done successfully in later grades this foundation is built upon for academic success in all subject areas. At Rise & Shine, the Kindergarten program focuses heavily on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary through multiple resources to provide positive outcomes in reading. Writing will also be a heavy component in the Language Arts Curriculum, as it goes hand in hand with reading.

Everyday/Envision Math are effective and focused math curricula. They use instruction that deeply connects conceptual understanding with real world applications as they use a hands-on approach.

Jesus Storybook Curriculum is a multi-award winning religion curriculum that is very engaging for young children.

Handwriting Without Tears is a research based handwriting curriculum that helps with fine motor skills and is tailored to fit any learning style.

Technology will be evident in the Kindergarten classroom. The students will have access to an I Pad daily as well as laptops (one per child). The students will explore the amazing world of technology through educational applications.

Art, Music, and Physical Education will be taught weekly by visiting teachers. We believe that students need all areas of education to develop the knowledge and skills essential to be a well-rounded, life-long learner!
